Inflammation-Targeting Mesenchymal Stem Cells Combined with Photothermal Treatment Attenuate Severe Joint Inflammation
In article number 2304333, Youn Joo Kang, Dongwoo Khang, and co-workers demonstrate enhanced anti-inflammatory therapeutic efficacy through near-infrared laser irradiation on gold nanostars-conjugated mesenchymal stem cells, functionalized with triamcinolone, inducing localized heat. Thermo-responsive interleukin 22 receptor inactivation in T lymphocytes resulted in reduced inflammatory response. This finding provides evidence that modulating the adaptive immune system is crucial in treating severe arthritis.
